Think London to promote business opportunities for 2012 in China
Aug 6, 2008
Think London, the foreign direct investment agency for London, will be launching a
number of high profile initiatives during the 2008 Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games to promote
the City as the number one business destination for Chinese companies.
Think London will stage four events in London House, located in Beijing’s Shi Cha Hai district. The house will represent London’s presence in Beijing during the Games. Chinese business leaders from the investment, telecommunications, creative industries and banking sectors will co-host the events, with VIPs giving key note speeches.
The events will culminate in a special Olympic Handover Ceremony on 24th August when
London celebrates becoming the next Host City. Think London will then begin a three month
Road to London road
show through 11 Chinese cities in an interactive branded London Taxi. The route will start in
Beijing and will subsequently visit Shanghai in September, ending in Hong Kong, in late November.
This will provide potential investors with the opportunity to hear firsthand about the commercial
benefits of London in the run up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Michael Charlton, Chief Executive
of Think London said: “London presents significant business opportunities for companies worldwide
in the run up to the 2012 Games. Think London is perfectly positioned to help these companies
benefit from the US$80 billion growth that has been forecast for the city. China is highly regarded
as one of the most important economies of the 21st Century and the support of Chinese companies
will be pivotal to London's growth."
Since 2000, Think London has assisted over 60 Chinese companies in moving their European operations to the capital, including ZTE, China Telecom, Shanghai General Electronics Group, China Mobile, Crystal Digital, China Eastern Airlines, CNOOC, CCTV, China Netcom, PetroChina, China Eastern Airlines and China Export and Credit Insurance.
