London opportunities abound for German companies ahead of 2012 games

Think London, the foreign direct investment agency for London, in partnership with the British Chamber of Commerce in Germany, will host a seminar in London to promote business opportunities for German companies around the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

‘Maximising opportunities around the 2012 Games’ will be hosted at Think London’s offices in Canary Wharf on 14th May. Brendan Dineen, Director, 2012 Games will present the business opportunities to German companies with a presence in London.

“Trade between the UK and Germany is the largest of all EU member countries and totals over $95 billion.  Inward investment is also significant with over 3,000 German owned companies operating in the UK creating over 400,000 jobs.

“The London 2012 Games represents a huge opportunity for businesses around the world.  From catering, to construction; business services to transport infrastructure, companies across all sectors should now start to think about how they can invest in London 2012.

The London economy is forecast to grow by $80 billion by 2012, with the games set to contribute $8 billion worth of investment over the next four years alone. Five hundred 2012 business contracts have already been awarded, out of a total of 70,000 contracts that businesses around the world will be competing for over the next four years.
