Think London is the official foreign direct investment agency for London. We are a not-for-profit private-public partnership and the experts on doing business in the capital.

We are hosting a series of exclusive business events in key cities throughout North America over the coming months, as part of our Route to 2012 campaign.

We visited New York in September 2009.  The visit included meetings with companies in the New York Tristate area as well as a high profile business reception:

  Speakers

We were fortunate to have the following speakers at the dinner:

  • The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, spoke about how London is preparing to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in three years time and what this means for the city's long term plans.  The Mayor discussed what the current economic climate looks like given the decline of the pound, the changing London skyline and how US companies looking to globalise should act now.  Follow the Mayor of London on twitter: twitter.com/MayorOfLondon
  • Sir Alan Collins, KCVO CMG, British Consul-General, New York and Director-General, Trade & Investment USA, is responsible for nine teams across the US whose job is to promote British Trade and Investment opportunities. He sits on the Board of UK Trade & Investment and is the UK Trade & Investment Olympics champion tasked with globally co-ordinating work on London 2012. From 2003-2006, Sir Alan was British High Commissioner to Singapore where he was heavily involved with the strategy for London's winning bid for the 2012 Olympics.  Follow the British Consulate on twitter: twitter.com/UKinNewYork
  • Michael Charlton, Chief Executive for Think London, provided insight into the business opportunities around the Games in 2012 as well as the legacy post 2012.  He highlighted the business initiatives across London, outside of the Games, available to companies within a broad range of sectors.  Mr Charlton will also talk about how Think London works with international businesses to help them establish a presence in London.
