Think London is the official foreign direct investment agency for London. We are a not-for-profit private-public partnership and the experts on doing business in the capital. 

We are hosting a series of exclusive business events in key cities throughout North America over the coming months, as part of our Route to 2012 North America campaign.

LOS ANGELES 2012 RECEPTION - BY INVITATION ONLY

This, by invitation only event was hosted by Think London and UK Trade & Investment. The event offered insight into the current business opportunities that are available in London focused on digital media, sustainabilty and the broader opportunities in and around the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012 in London.

The event also highlighted the opportunities around legacy post the 2012 Games for those companies wishing to consider the longer term opportunities in London.

We were fortunate to have speaking:

  • Bob Peirce, The Consul General spoke about the impact the Games will have on not only London but across the whole of the UK. Central government has demonstrated its commitment to delivering the Games as well as a lasting and meaningful legacy for the UK’s business community.
  • The Mayor of London’s Finance Lead for the Climate Change Programme, Padmesh Shukla, shared with the audience specific opportunities in London that have come out of the Mayor’s “green agenda” including the Mayor’s objectives around making London the Low Carbon Capital of the world and the business opportunity this will provide international businesses.   • Dan Epstein, Head of Sustainable Development and Regeneration for the Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) explained how London is positioning itself to deliver the Sustainable Olympic Games in 2012 and how this provides opportunities for businesses from California.
  • Bob Newman, Head of AEG Worldwide Facilities, AEG Global Partnerships, spoke about his experience working for an LA based international organization who is involved in executing sports and entertainment events. Newman discussed what the Olympics mean to AEG and how their industry has incorporated digital technologies into how they interact with their clients, partners and stakeholders.
  • Janet Coyle, 2012 Director for Think London, discussed how Think London works with clients to help them establish a presence in London and what the current economic climate in looks like given the decline of the pound and the changing London skyline.
