Road to London - China 2008
August - November 2008
We have launched an 11 city roadshow, through China, called The Road to London. We would love to meet you there, find out more
In support of
the increasingly close economic ties between China and the UK – as exemplified in the recent
agreement between Premier Wen Jiabao and Prime Minister Gordon Brown to boost trade between China
and the UK by 50% by 2010, the friendship agreement between Beijing and London, the status
of current and future Olympic host cities, and the strategic importance of the Chinese market
to the London economy, Think London has developed a dedicated campaign to capitalise on the
business opportunities arising from the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.
The campaign will consist of the following two components:
-
Think London in
Beijing - the London House:
during the Beijing 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Games Think London ran a high-quality
business programme meeting with international and Chinese corporates. Our business events
were held at the London House, which was London's official presence in Beijing for the 2008
Olympic Games.
-
The “Road to London”:
after the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games Think London will embark on a three-month
road show through 11 Chinese cities. In each location we will host business events, combined
with a series of 1:1 business meetings. The route will start in Beijing, going to Tianjin,
Qingdao, Ningbo, Hangzhou, Shanghai, Wuhan, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and ending in
Hong Kong.
Through this campaign we would like to support the Chinese government’s Go Global
Policy and deliver on the commitment of Prime Minister Gordon Brown to encourage 100 Chinese
businesses to set up in the UK by 2010. This will be done by not only informing Chinese
businesses about the 2012 Games and the wider business opportunities in London, but also assisting
them in the process of globalisation.
London is ideally placed as a springboard to globalisation, providing excellent access to markets and skills, and Think London is actively encouraging and supporting Chinese companies to globalise through London via our free and confidential service and our dedicated offer for Chinese companies – Touchdown London, which provides Chinese clients with up to three months free desk space, 25% discount on serviced office space with Avanta across London, as well as the support of a dedicated Chinese speaking manager at Think London.
If you are a Chinese
business, or will be in China during this time and would like to know more about London as a
business location, please let us know. We can involve you in our range of activities, from smaller
business seminars to large networking events or arrange for one of our Business Development
Managers, Chinese speaking if required, to meet personally with you to discuss any business needs
you may have.
